Jade is an experienced and engaging cello teacher. Educated at The Royal College of Music, Royal Holloway University of London and Trinity Laban Conservatoire, she has a wealth of experience in teaching cello and music theory to students at all levels and ages. Jade offers a warm and encouraging learning environment with clear and open communication. Cello lessons with Jade are a great balance between the focused pursuit of musical goals and having lots of fun!
Jade teaches cello from beginners to advanced students of all ages from her home studio as well as for Brighton and Hove Music and Arts. She teaches online and in person with a full professional sound set-up.

Should students wish to take examinations Jade offers preparation for graded practical exams as well as GCSE and A Level tuition.
Jade understands the importance of safeguarding individuals online, especially when this comes to students under the age of 18. She has completed Safeguarding Training through Brighton and Hove Music & Arts and uses the Musicians Union online teaching contracts for the safety of both pupils and herself. Can I see a copy of your up-to-date DBS certificate? I am more than happy to provide a copy for your reference
May I attend lessons myself? Yes, parents can be in attendance at the lesson
Do your students have a track record showing mainly good exam results? Yes, of course results always depend on how much work and preparation a student has put in
What sort of repertoire do you teach? All different types, I try to tailor repertoire to the students ability level and to their tastes whilst keeping a balance of different types of music. You learn so many different technical and musical skills from practicing different types of music.
Do you teach the syllabus I’m interested in (e.g. ABRSM grades)? If you wish to take grades I teach the ABRSM syllabus
What ability levels do you teach? Beginner to advanced
Do you teach music theory alongside instrumental tuition? Basic music theory is covered during lesson’s, especially students at the beginning of their cello journey, separate music theory lessons can be arranged
Do you teach music appreciation / musicianship? Yes, this is a fundamental part of learning any instrument
Do you teach sight reading? Yes
Do you provide any performance opportunities like ensembles? Yes, I try to provide my students with performance and chamber music opportunities
Do you provide notes / reports for each lesson or at the end of each term? Students are expected to write in their practice diary’s the takeaways from each lesson, particularly the methods for how to practice and the material we’ve covered during a lesson.
What qualifications do you have for teaching? BMus and PGDip in Performance.
Do you have a cancellation policy for lessons? Yes, this is usually 2 weeks but can be agreed on an individual basis depending on the frequency of your lessons
Do you have a minimum commitment for lessons? I usually say 1 months worth, so this depends on the frequency of your lessons, for someone who has weekly lessons this would be 4 weeks for example
