Guitar, Ukulele and Piano Lessons

I encourage students to learn to play by ear, but also teach both standard notation and tablature. I try to make lessons fun, beginning with general musicianship and games and introducing theory as and when needed. I tailor my approach to each student, bringing out their musicality in all senses. I foster students' skills in composition and improvisation where appropriate.

I teach children and adults, both one-to-one and in groups, and I can put students in for grade exams if they wish - up to Grade 5 Singing, Ukulele and Guitar. I teach Piano at Beginners level but I can put students in for exams up to Grade 3. I have a full current DBS certificate. I have been teaching, composing and performing music for over 20 years and have also taught Yoga. Before that I was a Teacher of the Deaf and worked with children and adults in schools and colleges. I have also worked with children with other additional needs teaching music and other subjects. I have a 100% pass rate for all my pupils sitting the RGT grades, most of whom have achieved distinctions. I currently co-run the Wilful Choir, a Natural Voice Community Singing group in Kingston, Surrey (www.wilfulchoir.com). I encourage my students and choir members to do local charity performances and fund-raising performances.
