Why learn with me? I teach beginner to advanced level, from age 5 plus. I listen to what my students want, and tailor my approach according to each pupils' needs - this can be discussed in an initial consultation lesson, with no obligaion to continue. I am happy to work towards ABRSM or Trinity exams, but many of my pupils learn just for fun!
Whether you might have a child who is interested in learning the cello, or perhaps you are an adult who would like to have a few lessons to get back into playing - do get in touch. Adult pupils are very welcome, I have had a number of enquiries since lockdown!
What to expect in a typical online cello lesson? Typically, I like to help my students progress and improve through working on lots of exciting cello repertoire that's appropriate for their level, but will also push their technical abilities. I also like to include imaginative ways to practice scales, studies and technical exercises. Advantages to learning with me - I may send you pre-recorded piano parts to your pieces to play along with during home practice and during your lesson. I may also send extra music to look at, marked up by me to help you - cello activity sheets as well, for younger pupils.
Also available at the online studio are piano lessons, and music theory lessons (including ABRSM Grade 5 theory, which is required for any instrumental exams above grade 6).
About me as a teacher: I'm an experienced teacher, having worked at Wells Cathedral School as a Graduate Music Assistant, Junior Trinity Laban String Time programme in Tonbridge as a deputy cello teacher & assistant, and for the Nucleo Project. As a teaching deputy, I have also worked for Hackney Saturday centre, Blackheath Conservatoire & North London Colourstrings centre. I also teach a number of private pupils.
About me as a performer - I studied cello at the Royal Academy of Music. Performance work includes the London Concert Orchestra, Bath Phil and deputy on West End shows such as "The Lion King". I've performed abroad in countries such as Spain, Germany, Malta and China.
