I am an award-winning flautist with over 17 years of teaching and performance experience.
I teach in an engaging and accessible manner, aiming to share my love of the flute with my students (it really is the best instrument!). My approach is holistic, encouraging not only development of technique, but a deeper understanding of music because I believe that music matters and learning it leads to a greater appreciation of our world well beyond the realm of clefs and scales.
I have performed professionally for over 17 years and enjoy a varied career including orchestral playing, session work for film, studio recordings, small ensemble performance and music for special events.
Based in London, I currently perform as the principal flute in the Camden Phiharmonia Orchestra, Quintakulah Woodwind Quintet and St Bartholomew`s Orchestra. I also dep for other orchestras.
After completing my BM in Flute Performance with highest honours (summa cum laude) at the University of Southern Maine in 2008, I received a MMus degree in Ethnomusicology from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London.
In Maine, I was the principal flute of the Southern Maine Symphony Orchestra and part of the Mimosa Woodwind Quintet. I have studied privately with Joanna Soh (Just Another Flutist), Jean Rosenblum, Doug Worthen and Aubrie Dionne, and has performed in the master classes of Gareth Davies, Emmanuel Pahud, Jeffery Khaner, Lisa Hennessy, and Emily Gerace-Stanek. In 2009 I was awarded with the Bay Chamber Concerts' Summer Music Woodwind Prize.
